Last Sunday, it was Pastor Lewis' turn to speak. One of the things he spoke on was those who hear Jesus' words and do them, from Matthew 7:24-27. Jesus said that anyone who hears and does His words is like a wise man who built his house upon a rock. When the rains descended and the floods came, and the winds blew, this house could not be shaken for it was founded upon a rock. Jesus also tells of an unwise builder who built his house upon sand. Those same rains, floods, and winds destroyed the house built on sand, "and great was the fall of it."
In our current times, we are not likely to build a house on the sand, which is wise. But it's our life that is most important. Our life is like the house. It must have a rock-solid foundation to withstand the storms of life, and then inherit God's gift of eternal life. The rock that Jesus is talking about is Himself. He is more enduring than even the solid rock we see in hillsides. We make the Rock/Jesus the foundation of our house/life by simply asking Jesus to be our Rock, our Savior.
Blessings!
Matthew 7:24-27
24“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
